Core Surgery National Selection

Request for volunteers

Dear Colleagues,

The National Recruitment office for Core Surgical Training, NHS London are requesting volunteers to help with national selection interviews for the August 2025 intake. Please could you cascade the message below to your TPDs and HSTs who may be interested in supporting core national selection.

Virtual interviews (2^nd March to 11^th March 2026)

All specialty interviews will be facilitated remotely via virtual interview platform on Qpercom (VIDs – Virtual Interview Digital System). There will be no face-to-face recruitment interviews scheduled for 2026.

In a slight change to the interview stations the interviews will be split between two 15-minute stations station covering clinical/management and presentation/portfolio. There will be a briefing to start the day, a Circuit Lead and Lay Representatives, as in previous years, to support the panellists and quality assure the process. 

Please note that panellists will require access to a suitable broadband connection (NB: wired rather than wireless connection recommended), a Laptop or PC (Windows 10 recommended; Tablets not recommended), a camera/headset/microphone/speaker/ two screens if possible and an appropriate private space (private room/office). Panellists must also ensure that all documentation is stored securely and will be returned/destroyed appropriately at the end of the recruitment episode.

Please note, by registering using each form, you are CONFIRMING your attendance on each day you select.

As in previous years, senior trainees can assist with the national selection process for Core Surgical Training CT1/ST1 2026.

 In order to participate you must meet the criteria set below:

• ST6-8 or post CCT
• Outcome 1 or 6 at last ARCP
• Up to date Equality and Diversity Training
• Should not participate in core recruitment interview preparation courses or associated with company providing question banks for MSRA or CST interview preparation.

 Once you have registered names will be sent TPD/HoS for your region to approve your participation.   

 We understand that in rare circumstances you may find yourself unable to attend the process after you have registered for it. Please ensure that if this happens you let us know as soon as possible by emailing england.medicalrecruitment.lase@nhs.net.
